I joined the club industry and CMAA in 1996. 26+ years later, I still remember my first meeting, held at the Coral Bay Club, where Patricia Calder served as GM. The education was on lightning safety, which is still a relevant topic today. Fast forward a quarter century and it is clear to me that CMAA has been integral to my professional career growth and success and I have made so many meaningful friendships along the way. Over the course of my career, which got its start in Food and Beverage, I have had the privilege to work for a number of different Clubs, with varied operating models and amenities. At each stop, there were always other CMAA Club Managers willing to mentor me and provide supportive guidance. I've found that the Club industry is unique in that regard, as we are genuinely interested in helping one another succeed, rather than being competitive adversaries. At this stage in my career, I welcome the opportunity to share my experiences and lessons-learned with the next generation of Club Professionals and I would be honored to help someone work through the comprehensive MID curriculum.
