"Like most folks I fell into our business at a young age. I tell young people all the time, “No one ever grew up saying, I’m going to run the country club when I grow up”…. My first college job was at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh. I discovered after the first couple of years, I was enjoying work more than the architecture classes I had been taking in college. I re-tooled my major and stayed in the club industry.
Growing up in this business I have been fortunate to work for some really special mentors of my own. Tom Noyes was my first boss and is one of my best friends and godfather of one of my children. He’s steered my career since day one. I’ve worked with Lee Smith, Patricia Calder, Reggie Spell and Kamal Sakakini over the years as I travelled the I-85 corridor and ventured a couple of times to Charleston, SC. Currently, 34 years later, I am the General Manager at The Golf Club at Briars Creek in Charleston. I am honored to be a part of this group, not just to give back, but because I learned this industry from very talented people and would be honored to pass those lessons along to a new generation."
