Summer Conference
Carolinas Chapter CMAA
Summer Conference
Sunday, July 21 - Tuesday, July 23, 2019
The Clubs at St. James Plantation
Southport, NC 28461
EDUCATION:
Education for the Summer Conference will include sessions by some of the best career consultants in the industry, sharing information about topics that will be of interest to managers at every level.
Kurt Kuebler, CCM, Kopplin Kuebler & Wallace: The Club Career
Kurt has a strong understanding of operational matters in clubs and club communities, including the dynamics that occur with club members, boards, committees and the leadership team and staff. This knowledge is beneficial in qualifying potential candidates for such roles when they purport or suggest that they "can do it all" relative to the position profile that has been created; one has to know the right questions to ask in order to truly understand if someone can actually do the job.
Kurt will be presenting a 6-hour seminar over two days about "The Club Career - Career Planning, Career Detours, Search Firms, Mentorship, and more!" Every attendee will find something they can use in their own career during this session.
Shelley MacDougall, Coach, The Coaching Dept.: Women in Club Management
Shelley MacDougall and Kevin MacDonald together form The Coaching Dept. and are well-known throughout CMAA for their dynamic and effective coaching of club managers at all levels. A number of our Chapter members heard Shelley speak at World Conference in Nashville on the topic of Women in Club Management: Elegant Influence, a wonderful discussion of how women relate in club management - relating to their teams, their members, and their coworkers.
This session will cover these same issues and more - including a panel of Carolinas Chapter female AND male managers discussing how their management styles differ and how to make these differences work together in a positive way.
Kirk Reese, CCM, Denehy Club Thinking Partners: Performance Management Planning and Employee 360
Kirk has 27 years' experience managing some of the nation's top historic clubs, including Los Angeles Country Club and Chevy Chase Club.
His presentation for this conference will include Performance Management Planning - how to implement performance management that results in all aspects of operations working together in optimum fashion. He will explain how your club can embed this process in day-to-day operations to ensure that goals are consistently being met in an effective and efficient manner. Another component of this session will be Employee 360 - identifying who in your management team is highly collaborative and who's not on the bus.
