Ben Blalock, PGA
Director of Instruction
[email protected]
Ben Blalock joined the staff of North Ridge Country Club on April 1, 2018. A PGA member since 2009, he has served as the Director of Instruction at Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island since 2013. Since arriving to that post, he has taught thousands of individual lessons, organized and executed hundreds of clinics and golf schools, and served as a member of his chapter’s education committee. Additionally, he has completed professional certification programs including US Kids Golf, TPI and the PGA’s Certification in Instruction.

In 2017, he received his first nomination for the Carolinas PGA Section’s Teacher of the Year Award, and in 2016, was named the Best Golf Professional by the Island Packet Newspaper in Beaufort County.

Prior to arriving at Long Cove, he traveled the country as a PGA apprentice and member professional. From 2007 to 2009, he apprenticed at Sea Island Golf Club in coastal Georgia, where he laid the early ground work for becoming a Director of Instruction by observing lessons taught by Todd Anderson, Jack Lumpkin, Mike Shannon and Gale Peterson every Monday during his apprenticeship. Following those formative years, he went on to spend time at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio before returning to coastal Georgia to become First Assistant Professional at Frederica Golf Club. Later, he moved his family to the Washington, D.C. area where he became First Assistant Professional at the historic Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, MD. This position was followed by his first post as a Head Golf Professional, this time in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Currently, he is working to complete his PGA Master Professional certification which will conclude in 2018. This achievement will place him within a category of professionals that represents only about 10% of members of the PGA of America.

Ben brings passion and energy for coaching and instructing golfers of every age and skill level. He has had success lowering the handicaps of club members and inspiring young golfers to achieve their dreams within the game. When appropriate, he incorporates the latest technology and technique theory into his coaching. He has several years of experience using the Trackman launch monitor to teach his players how to improve their swings and to fit them into clubs that set them up for success.
